OMAR DERBY

director. writer.

Greetings! I draw from my Jamaican roots and MFA from SCAD to write and direct stories defined by raw authenticity and premium cinematic quality. My time in the elite environment of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command taught me how to execute in high-stakes environments under pressure.

Over the last eight years, my portfolio has scaled to include national commercial campaigns for brands like Bevel, as well as premium narrative television, having recently directed a highly anticipated crime/romance vertical series for a major streaming network.

I've been blessed to have built a dominant footprint in the high-volume vertical streaming space. My viral thriller The Wedding Game, which I wrote and directed, amassed millions of views on Vigloo, and was hailed as "ahead of its time" for bringing cinematic depth and thoughtful storytelling to the vertical screen. My most recent vertical work includes a Jamaican drama/romance slated for release in 2026.

My traditional narrative work builds on that momentum with my 2026 festival run, where my thriller The Good One captured "Best Dark Drama" at the Georgia Shorts Film Festival, and my character-driven drama Keep On Truckin' was selected for the legendary Pan African Film Festival (PAFF). Cementing this run, both films secured Official Selections at the Oscar-qualifying BronzeLens Film Festival, with Keep On Truckin' also heading to the Atlanta Underground Film Festival (AUFF).

I'm based in Atlanta with family but love traveling. I'm a music lover, fitness enthusiast and budding minimalist.
